It’s no secret that I love photography!  But combining photography with a busy family can often leave me short on time.  Lightroom allows me time to edit my photos in the most efficient way possible.  And I’m thrilled to share what I know and how I make editing happen given a busy schedule and little time!

My course, Lightroom 101: An Editing class for Beginners, will demonstrate how I edit photos efficiently via Lightroom. I’ll keep it simple, use easy-to-understand language, and give step-by-step instructions and video demonstrations.  No secrets. If I know it, I’m willing to share it!

Here’s a look at what Lightroom 101 covers:

  • How to download and organize your photos
  • Step-by-step instructions for completing a quick, clean edit
  • Using tools to selectively edit your image, including brighten eyes, smooth skin, and remove blemishes
  • Converting your photos to black & white
  • An introduction to the magic of Lightroom presets and how to install, use and create your own
  • How to save your newly-edited photographs on your computer
  • The ease of taking your photo(s) from Lightroom to Photoshop and back in one quick click
  • Creating and using watermarks

Just roll over the photo to see what it looked like before I edited in Lightroom-

You do not have to purchase Lightroom to participate.  Adobe offers a free 30-day trial of Lightroom that you can download to coincide with the class.  (Click here to go to Adobe’s free trial offer.)  You can try Lightroom out during the class and decide if it’s worth purchasing or not.

The course is 7 weeks long, offering 2 lessons per week. We all learn in different ways, so there will be both written lessons and video tutorials. And this class is going to be totally interactive! We’re going to do this together! Via a private forum just for our class, you can share your photos online {or not}, ask questions, and get feedback anytime throughout the class. You will be able to see what the other students in the class are doing and asking too. You choose when to check in online, view course material, and there’s no pressure because you work at your own pace. You can participate during nap time, in the middle of the night, only on the weekend, or whenever you find an opportunity. Feel free to come to class in your jammies! I know I will! I will be available the whole time for questions and to offer clarifications and information. After 5 weeks of lessons, you will have an additional 2 weeks to let it all sink in, practice and ask more questions.

Here’s just a little of what my Lightroom 101 students have done with their own photos.  Roll over the photo to see the image before their edited it in Lightroom.

What do I need to take this class?
  • Lightroom downloaded and installed on your computer, (check Adobe for system requirements)
  • Images taken with your DSLR and downloaded on to your computer to practice
  • A Facebook account
  • Access to high-speed internet to view video tutorials

How much does the class cost?
Registration cost is $349 for 7 weeks of instruction. Class size will be limited, and is available first come first serve.

Here’s what some past participants have to say:

Before this class I tried to self-teach myself Lightroom by youtube videos and it only confused me more. Your streamlined process and workflow really helped untangle the mess I made for myself. Your videos and pdf’s were really clear and didn’t over-saturate my brain with information. But most of all, I really appreciate how flexible and accommodating you were AND continue to be even though class has ended. It’s just gives me a sense of security to know that I can still lean on you in case of trouble. That feeling is just priceless and worth every cent.  ~Danielle

I took the Lightroom class, and I feel that it changed and improved my photography! Not only did I learn how to edit and get the photos just the way I want, but I also started seeing the things I was taking pictures of differently. I now think about all the details of what makes a good shot. There is LOTS to learn about photo editing and the Lightroom class left me feeling very comfortable with it. I would highly recommend it! ~Rebecca

Several months ago I took Nancy’s photography class. I learned to much and loved the feedback she provided. When I heard she was doing a class on photo editing I jumped in without hesitation and I have not been disappointed! I was an absolute beginner with Lightroom and I feel like I have learned so much!  The lessons are short and concise and the combination of written lessons and video lessons makes it very easy to learn. Nancy is excellent with offering constructive feedback and lots of encouragement of each photo. The entire class has been a very fun learning experience and I have taken several photos that I liked and turned them into photos that I LOVE! Thanks for you wonderful, easy to follow teaching, Nancy!  ~Erin M.

I learned so much from the Lightroom class!  Nancy’s lessons are very clear, easy to follow, and packed with information and tons of useful tips!  Before this class I hesitated a lot with my editing, worried that I didn’t know what I was doing, but now that it has been so clearly explained  I am really enjoying it and my photos look fantastic!  ~Melissa C.

I’d like to thank you for putting together such a wonderful course and sharing your knowledge with us.  I have thoroughly enjoyed each lesson and have already greatly improved my photos.  My husband is pretty impressed and I’m thrilled because photos mean so much to me.   I love that your course has given me the flexibility to work at my own pace without any pressure.  With four kiddos at home, I need flexibility!  The sessions have been the perfect length with different learning options for different learning styles.  Your class has been one of the best investments in improving my pictures.  Thank you again!  ~Erica M.

Nancy’s Lightroom 101 is a fantastic way to jump into editing in LR without feeling overwhelmed or lost. LR 101 has given me the tools to jump into LR feeling like I know what I’m doing. I am now comfortable and increasingly confident when navigating LR and editing my photos. Nancy’s tutorials are concise and clear. There’s no struggling with a manual or jargon. The lessons are easy to fit into a busy schedule and even though they are short, they are packed with information so you start seeing an improvement in your photos immediately. The virtual group setting for the class is a big plus– while class size is small, it is nice to get feedback and share questions with others, and Nancy provides plenty of individual attention. I highly recommend this course for anyone new to LR.  ~Annika A.

I went into the class knowing nothing about the program, and by the end I felt very comfortable maneuvering around Lightroom. I love how easy it is to edit my photos now.  She is very easy to understand and if you ever have any questions she is quick to reply. My favorite part about the class structure is the flexibility it allows. There are no (required) assignments and you can go at your own pace. I would definitely recommend taking a class from Nancy, and I hope to take more in the future!     ~Katy C.

PS-Did I mention I’m {uber} excited to show you how to do all this?  I AM!
